The Federal Reserve

Eric Parks over at Red State Eclectic writes about the Federal Reserve:

In the fifth plank of the communist Manifesto, Karl“I-can’t-prove-my-own-labor-theory-of-value” Marx calls for the monetary means of causing the ruination of a capitalist society in order to bring about a Communist utopia. The Manifesto calls for “Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with state capital and an exclusive monopoly.” Other planks call for institutions that, on the face, seem normal to us today: Graduated income tax, inheritance tax, government schools, etc. They are all communist in origin.

Didn't they used to give away toasters?

Pilfered from Deb Yost over at RedstateEclectic :

My two cents worth: banks are losing billions, and replace it with more fiat money. Citigroup and Merrill Lynch holding lion's share of market risk, while local services are slashed; Yahoo! rebounds from layoffs by buyout notice; banks are losing hundreds of billions of dollars and those in the banking industry tell us only losing $1 billion is considered a good news event!
Want to know if it's time to pull your money out of those CD's that get 5% and put them into gold and bicycles? Well don't go over to the Bank Implode-O-Meter, if your bank or credit union gets mentioned there, it's already too late.

Cracked:The 25 Most Nonsensical Protest Signs

The devil's homo machine? Not if my collection of college coed sorority cheerleader mpegs has anything to say about it. I have so much of that stuff I almost had to delete my favorite movie of all time from my hard drive. Next to Spartacus and 300 of course.

The whole list is here, beware some obscenities and pixelated nudity.

American Conservative Mag: The Paleocon Dilemma

There did really used to be a wing of the Republican Party that hates the idea of meddling in other countries affairs:

Ron Paul isn’t just running for president. The antiwar 10-term congressman from Texas hopes that as titular head of the Republican Party, he can nudge the Right in a less interventionist direction, both at home and abroad. In fact, reviving an older, less reflexively hawkish conservatism may even be a more important motivation for Paul’s long-shot campaign than actually capturing the GOP nomination.

There’s just one problem: the movement Paul is trying to lead, or at least influence, is filled with people who think he is some kind of crazed left-wing radical. The popular conservative website RedState.com has effectively banned Paul supporters from signing up as commenters and promoting their candidate, partly on the grounds that such people are liberal Democrats merely pretending to be Republicans. FreeRepublic.com founder Jim Robinson, whose website was once more open to constitutionalists than Republican boosters, asserted that “Paul equals Hillary on the War.” National Review senior editor Richard Brookhiser has opined that Paul backers are “wicked idiots.”

The whole piece is here.

The Chattering Classes are Starting to Understand

Over at RedstateEclectic, Laura makes the observation that the MSM (well, Jonah Goldberg of National Review, and Ross Douthat at The Atlantic) are finally starting to get what Ron Paul is about:

For me, the bottom line is this--there are now folks in the "mainstream" media who are recognizing that while Ron Paul may be saying something "different", what he's saying and the way he says it isn't nearly as bizarre as some have sometimes suggested.

Which is exactly what I've been saying. It's good to see Goldberg finally acknowledge that (and get a couple of licks on Huckabee as well, Chuck Norris be damned).
